SUBJECT: YOUR BVNW PTO Weekly Update - September 18 2025

We've Got Spirit! Yes We Do!

We're getting ready for Spirit Week next week! We've got spirit! How about YOU???

WHAT'S NEWS

It is hard to NOT get 'in the spirit' during Spirit Week at BVNW as there is so much fun happening during the school day and after:

  • theme days at school,
  • pep assembly,
  • pre-game tailgate party with food, music, games, face-painting and a performance by our dance team,
  • 'Dawg Walk' (where the different Clubs and Sports parade their handiwork and compete for PTO-funded prizes before the game),
  • Homecoming Varsity Football Game, and
  • Dance!

Your PTO supports many of these activities so our students can make great memories during their high school experience! Help us by volunteering and joining in the fun!

Feeding our Spirit

Did you know that the PTO runs the Concessions booth for all Home Football Games? Special thanks to our Concessions VP Johnny Johnson and Concessions Inventory Manager Nayelli Palazuelos-Bowers for all of the 'behind the scenes' hard work. While they are setting up the booth for success, our Club-, Music- and Sports- supporters actually work the Concessions Booth during the games and the PTO profit-shares with the organizations. A win-win!

While we attempt to keep the items affordable for kids and families, this is our main revenue source so come support us in the Concessions booth this Friday and next Thursday during our Homecoming game.

Not Feeling the Spirit?

BV Well, powered by the BV Educational Foundation, is hosting some excellent sessions to equip parents to recognize signs of mental crisis, support their kiddos well-being and prevent suicide. There will be an evening presentation on 9/3 and a group training on 11/12 and 11/13. Find out more at fundbv.org/bvwell

Speaking of Spirit... Spirit Wear that is! The PTO Spirit Wear store sale - 25% off sitewide - has been extended through 9/30! Great styles. Fast shipping. Click HERE to get yours!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Our Fall Grant program is now open and accepting requests through September 26th. If your kiddo's Club or Sport needs equipment or other supplies to start up, keep going or perform their best, encourage the Sponsor to submit a request.

Did you sign up for a PTO Membership via ParentVue? Thank you for your support! However, sadly our database doesn't "talk" to the District's database so there is a 2+ month lag time between signing up there and being recognized as a member in our system and reaping the benefits like access to the Directory. You can help expedite this process by creating an account on our website.

Miss a Newsletter? Our update is chockfull of information about your PTO - structure, programs and impact - as well as upcoming events and more! You can access previous newsletters HERE.

WHAT WE'VE DONE

Pep Assemblies are even Pep-pier with the PTO's Support!

The Pep Club requested a Pop-Up Grant from the PTO to provide raffle prizes - gift certs to the student-run store, The Dawg Haus - at the pre-game Student Assemblies. The lucky winners from the Soccer Pep Assembly are pictured above. More winners will be chosen at this Thursday's Assembly before the big HoCo game.

BV District + PTO Coordination

PTO/PTA leaders across the Blue Valley school district met this week to learn about District funding and accomplishments, school safety topics, BVEF grants, BVWell programs and Y Care needs for staff to meet growing demand (16YO and older can apply HERE). Did you know that the Blue Valley District only has $20million in reserves (not even 1 month of operating expenses) and already spends over $16million out of their budget on SPED each year to meet student needs (supplementing what is provided by the state)? They urge parents to keep abreast of current topics regarding educational funding so Blue Valley can keep performing at the top of the class.
