  • The Teens in Need program will continue this year and is currently collecting new or gently used TI-80 calculators, school supplies, Walmart gift cards (for back-to-school clothing) and donations (click HERE to donate). A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL PTO BOARD AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS WHO HAVE SO GRACIOUSLY DONATED THEIR TIME AND ENERGY TO SUPPORTING YOUR PTO!

WHAT WE'VE DONE

We've welcomed our new Principal, Dr. Alexander, as well as our teachers back to school!  The PTO is thrilled to have such a wonderful partner to make this the best year yet! We can't wait for our members to hear from Dr. Alexander as well during our Kick-off Meeting on 8/24!

***

Our wonderful Staff Appreciation Committee made the Back-to-School Teacher Meetings more fun with a coffee cart and gift card prizes as incentives. The Committee also provided pizza lunch with sides and dessert for our Coaches and Club Sponsors. The PTO communicated the many ways we help our teachers and coaches and sponsors: teacher stipends, academic and club/sports grants, hospitality for events, activities support and more!

***

The PTO has also committed funds to make sure our students got spirit by subsidizing class Spirit Wear for assemblies and a new sports Banner replacing the old worn out one.

***

The PTO was out in force during New Husky Night - welcoming freshmen, new students and their families and providing sweet and Husky-themed treats!

TEENS IN NEED (TIN) Program

Based on Member Feedback, the PTO is continuing its "Teens in Need" program coordinated by our awesome Melissa Kirchner. The purpose is to give all BVNW students the opportunity to participate in academics, sports, performing arts, and school-sponsored activities regardless of financial circumstances. We hope to help cover essential costs like equipment, uniforms, and supplies for example, that act as financial barriers preventing student engagement: a win-win for the whole BVNW community!

How can you help?

At the start of the year, the school needs:

  • new or gently used TI-80 calculators
  • school supplies (folders, notebooks (both 5-subject and single subject, pens, regular and colored pencils)
  • Walmart gift cards for back-to-school clothes

Drop donations off at the front desk and tell Sherri they are for "Teens in Need."

Make a monetary donation to stretch the PTO budget and purchase items requested. Click HERE and select "T.I.N. Donation" to donate directly to the fund or drop off at the BVNW front desk a check made out to BVNW PTO with "TIN Fund" in the notes.

A big THANK YOU to those who contributed last year - we were able to help two students play spring sports and one complete a class project!

If you know of a student who has not been able to participate in a class, sport or other activity based on ability to pay, please encourage them to contact their Counselor, Coach or Sponsor to make a request.
